After working for BMW on production HMI design for many years, I was hired as an in-house designer in the Advanced Design team at BMW Group Design. During my time at BMW headquarters, I had the chance to work in cross-functional teams on a wide range of exciting projects in the early phase of the development process.
Most of the UX concepts we developed centered around new ways of interaction, including voice, gaze and gesture control. Another focus area was the advent of self-driving cars and their different levels of autonomy. Working closely with interior design and human factors, we developed comprehensive, holistic UX concepts and built numerous functional interior models and prototypes to test and present our ideas internally. Many aspects of our work made it into production models, such as the BMW iX.
